The South Carolina Higher Education Foundation, in partnership with the South Carolina Commission of Higher Education and the South Carolina Campus Law Enforcement Association (SCCLEA), is proud to sponsor the 12th Annual S.C. Linda B. Floyd Campus Safety Conference. Trident Technical College is pleased to serve as the host institution for the conference, which will be held Feb. 9-11, 2011, at the Francis Marion Hotel in historic Charleston, South Carolina (http://francismarionhotel.com/).
Now in its 12th year, the conference is designed to raise awareness and provide multidisciplinary approaches for addressing campus safety issues at South Carolina’s public and private institutions of higher education. The theme for the 2011 conference, On Campus, Online, On the Street: Working Toward Safer Communities, will focus on current safety and security risks—both on and off campus, electronic social networking hazards, and strategies for assisting unique campus populations. The conference also provides an opportunity for faculty, staff, administrators, students and law enforcement personnel to engage in conversations, exchange experiences and discuss ways in which the campus community can join together to reduce safety risks.
Pre-conference events include SCCLEA’s winter meeting and training session.
The conference is open to all college and university administrators, faculty and staff (especially health and wellness counselors, mental health professionals, judicial affairs officers, housing/residence life personnel, campus law enforcement or security/safety officers, victim’s advocates), school resource officers, as well as local, state and federal law enforcement personnel.
